Mayors from two Midlands cities used their annual State of the Cities address to stress the importance of partnerships and the value residents derive from being part of these two cities.
City of Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said, “Last year we talked about our economic vision for Columbia and our strategies for entering the knowledge economy. We talked about Columbia becoming a world class city with a transformed economy that will power not only our region, but our State’s economy. This goal can only be realized if we have a strong city that provides the services, innovative programs and quality of life that support the jobs that a globally competitive marketplace requires.”
Randy Halfacre, mayor of the Town of Lexington, said echoed these themes by saying, “By focusing on the value our citizens derive from being part of our Town; the partnerships that we are building to involve our residents, businesses, citizen groups and churches in our decision-making and future vision; and by using our resources wisely and efficiently, there is no limit to what we can accomplish together.”
