South Carolina’s jobs tripled from 1990 to 2003. Five of every six new jobs in the state were created in the metro areas. These areas also contain 78 percent of all jobs in the state.
South Carolina’s central cities average 88 jobs for every 100 city residents compared to only 59 jobs for every 100 residents nationally.
